I was born in 1951.
I married in 1981.
We have 3 Children and 4 Grandchildren.
I joined the Royal Australian Air Force in 1967, straight from High School, and I served for more than 25 years as an aircraft electrical and electronics technician on a variety of combat aircraft, and later in supervisory, administration, and man management positions.
For the last 6 years of my career in the Air Force, I served as an electrical and electronics trade instructor, teaching a variety of subjects for that electrical trade at the Air Force’s trade school, the R.A.A.F. School of Technical Training, at Forest Hill, near Wagga Wagga in New South Wales, and also as the senior electrical trade examiner.
The earlier training in the 60’s and 70’s was more in depth than what it is in this current day and age for the Air Force’s electrical trades people. Just prior to my discharge, that earlier training, coupled with those years of working in the trade, and then instructing the trade were recognised by the Air Force with the awarding of an Associate Diploma in Electrical Engineering. Even though it is quite obvious that this is not a full Electrical Engineering Degree, it adds some level of experience and credence to what I have to say on matters regarding Electrical Power Generation.
After electing voluntary discharge, I worked as an accredited State licensed Workplace Health and Safety Officer with a printing company for 8 years.
I am now retired, and my wife and I now live at Beenleigh. Originally, when I moved here to Queensland as a young boy of barely nine years old in 1960 with our family, Beenleigh was a medium sized town, around 20 miles or so to the South of the Queensland State Capital, Brisbane, and it was located on the highway to the Gold Coast. Now, Beenleigh is virtually a Southern suburb of Brisbane, as that huge city has expanded in all directions to swallow up all of those smaller towns.
My interests include music, reading, and current affairs.
I played Cricket for 25 years at senior grade level, and then lesser grades, moving into coaching junior and senior teams.
I started contributing at this Blog site in March of 2008, contributing posts mainly about electrical power related subjects and the ramifications that might eventuate if we are to believe the Climate Change/Global Warming advocates, when associated with what is demanded by The Kyoto Protocol, and subsequent decisions from that UN body the UNFCCC. (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change)
My opinion is that there is quite obviously Climate Change, as there always has been, but that the emissions of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) play only the most minimal of roles, if any, on that Climate Change.
I also post extensively on the use of Renewable sources for the generation of Electrical Power, and how these Renewable Power Plants can only supply marginal amounts of Electrical power that cannot replace traditional methods of power generation, which actually can supply their power on the 24/7/365 basis that it is required.
The screen name I use of TonyfromOz has nothing to do with that legendary land where the Wizard resides. The International three letter Country designator for Australia is AUS, and this is pronounced as Oz, so in reality, TonyfromOz means I am Tony and I am from Australia. My real name is Anton Lang.
As of now, in 2023, I have contributed almost 3,300 Posts under my own name across these last fifteen years.
