Combat Medic Specialist Brown's heroism and selfless devotion to duty during Operation ENDURING FREEDOM in Afghanistan. Disregarding her personal safety she treated and used her body to shield wounded soldiers while under intense enemy fire. For her bravery and her courageous actions, Army Specialist Pvt. First Class Monica Brown was awarded the Silver Star.
