Obama’s Failed Intervention

When a family member or friend engages in behavior destructive to himself and/or those around him, counseling is required. When the offender ignores it, suggesting a serious problem exists, a much more aggressive approach-“intervention“-is demanded.

20140801_pic_giant_073014_SM_ObamaImpeachmentGOn the evening of November 4th, President Obama underwent an intervention-yet it failed to have the desired effect. The seriousness of his destructive behavior to himself and, more importantly, to the security of the Nation he leads, could not have been made clearer by a voting public delivering his Party one of the most decisive defeats in U.S. political history.

Even as the intervention occurred, Obama failed to pay heed. Before the smoke from a Democratic Senate majority leadership going down in flames cleared, he used it as a screen to hide yet another addictive act endangering the Nation. He quietly released a violent terrorist held at Guantanamo (“Gitmo“).

As the sun rose the morning after mid-term elections, the reality an intervention had occurred still failed to fully register with Obama.  He simply dismissed it as majority non-voters’ inaction disproportionately distorting the voters’ message into something more than it was. He blamed the Republican shellacking, not on his policies, but on the “two-thirds of voters that chose not to participate in the process...”

Always seeking to coat a negative portrayal as a positive one, Obama suggested the mandate from the silent majority of non-voters was to continue business as usual.

Accuracy in Media’s Roger Aronoff pointed out:

Remember, Obama said that while he wasn’t ‘on the ballot this fall…make no mistake: These policies are on the ballot, every single one of them.’ And the voters clearly agreed, either by the way they voted, or their decision to stay home.”

As voters went to the polls, Obama released Fawzi al-Odah, a close associate of the late Osama bin Laden held for 14 years and considered to be one of Gitmo’s most dangerous terrorists. Yet Obama found him “no longer a threat.” On the day of a big Republican victory, al-Odah was on his way back to Kuwait. A terrorist group Obama deemed violent enough to bomb in Syria, the Khorasan Group, tweeted  congratulations to al-Odah’s family even before America knew about it.

Obama, despite repeated rebukes, is still committed to closing Gitmo, especially in the wake of a new Republican Senate majority who will fight him on it. This commitment has resulted in some of extremist Islam’s most dangerous followers being released back into society-of which at least 30% return to their violent ways.

Unfazed by voters’ rejection, Obama asserted his unique authority, claiming he, alone, is the member of government with the most political legitimacy as he is “the guy who is elected by everybody and not just from a particular state or a particular district.” While adding he will “push hard to close some of these divisions, break through some of the gridlock, and just get stuff done” during his final two years, he immediately made clear it would be as a government of one.

Obama’s bravado ignores a post-election Gallup Poll in which voters declared their preference-by 17%-for a Republican Congress setting the course for America’s future rather than Obama.

At a November 8 luncheon at the White House to explore with the victors where progress could be made, the President began beating the war drums. He suggested he will take unilateral action on immigration reform before year’s end, disregarding the wishes of the soon-to-be-seated Republican Senate majority. Republicans countered such action would be a “toxic decision.” Obama’s priorities further ignore the wishes of 78% of voters priority be put on the economy.

By promising to legalize illegals, Obama has increased their flow, resulting in increased criminal activity in areas where they have settled. And, at a time the economy is suffering, Obama’s actions will increase unemployment among Americans, further stretching already over-stretched government assistance budgets.

An indicator Obama is a lost soul off in “Lala” land was evident as he even sought to blame Republicans for delaying immigration reform. He ignores his failure, early in his reign while enjoying both a Democratic House and Senate majority behind him, to so act.

U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) observed about Obama, “His tone and tenor didn’t seem to reflect that of somebody whose policies were just significantly rejected all across the country just three days ago.”

Indications are Obama also will ram through several federal judge “for life” appointments before the Republican Senate majority can take their seats.

Such defiance is evidence Obama remains in denial about his failed policies, refusing to change his behavior or seek “treatment” for what can only be deemed a mental illness or a blind commitment to do harm to our Republic.

U.S. Representative John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) informed the President Republicans have five priorities including the Tax Code, national debt, reformation of the legal system, reshaping regulatory policy to make bureaucrats more accountable and giving parents more choices in educating their children.

Absent from this list, unfortunately, is a review of Obama’s foreign and domestic policies endangering U.S. national security while promoting Islamist interests.

Such policies include a secret and botched effort to pay ransom (denied by Obama but confirmed by senior military authority) for the release of deserter Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl. After an Afghan intermediary disappeared with the cash, the State Department-contrary to U.S. law prohibiting negotiations with designated terrorist organizations-did so with the Haqqani Network-releasing five high profile terrorists in exchange.

They include an effort to disarm Border Patrol agents at risk from Mexican drug cartel activists on America’s southwest border. Under the guise of removing unserviceable M4 carbines to alleviate safety concerns while failing to replace the weapons, Obama increased U.S. security concerns and the agents’ safety concerns. This effort coincides with Obama’s promise to sanction illegal immigration.

What can explain such blatant insolence by Obama?

On March 5, 2014, Michael Barone wrote the word to best describe Obama’s mindset is “solipsism“-a fancy word given to the assumption:

“…others see the world as you do and will behave as you would. It’s a quality often found in narcissists, people who greatly admire themselves – like a presidential candidate confident that he is a better speechwriter than his speechwriters, knows more about policy than his policy directors and is a better political director than his political director.

Barone suggested solipsism “has been painfully apparent as the United States suffers one reversal after another in world affairs. But it has been apparent ever since he started running for president in 2007.”

Barone made a convincing argument for what ails Obama. But this author believes the ailment is far more serious than narcissism. It is not an flaw of character from which Obama suffers, it is an intentional effort to destroy the foundations of a democratic America. Obama is committed to ushering in a way of life anathema to those foundations.

This President has repeatedly violated the U.S. Constitution. This President has disrupted long-term international alliances. This President has undertaken acts to aid and comfort America’s enemies.

At a minimum, Obama has committed impeachable offences; at a maximum, his acts may extend to treasonable ones. He need be held accountable.
