Here in Australia, the school system is in the process of being standarsised for all States. Some States only have 6 years of Primary Education. Here in Queensland, the students have one of year of Prep, which is the same as pre school, and then seven years of Primary Education, before moving on to High School. Some of the larger Private Schools have both Primary and Secondary education at the one complex, and the areas are separated one from the other, and some Private Schools even have a middle school, even different again from those others, but in the main, schools are separated into either Primary or Secondary Education, which is High School. The school that Savannah was at is a small school, and hers was the only Grade 7, and there were 30 students, only seven of whom were boys…..TonyfromOz.
Recently I had an end of year Graduation for the year 7′s. This was my last year at primary school. The school is called St Marys Catholic Primary and I have been there for 3 years. Before that I was at St Josephs Park Avenue and at Blackwater Primary School.
Before we had the Graduation Ceremony we had a Mass in the church on the School grounds. The person who ran it was Father Burns. The mass was for the year 7′s and their family and friends.
After the mass we had the graduation ceremony in the hall and had some dinner, and then did a little partying.
There were a lot of photo’s taken by family’s and friend’s and also professional photo’s taken.
This picture shows all us students at our own special table in the centre of the room. We are signing graduation books and bears for our friends.
After photo’s there were speeches from teachers and students. Our two teachers were Mr Langdon, and Mrs Novak, and we will miss them very much. The speeches made some of the parents cry.
There were presentations for the year 7′s and certificates also for the graduating students. A slide show presentation was also shown from when we were little, and just arrived at the school, to when we grew up and left.
After the dinner and the presentation we had some dancing. It was a really good night for all of us.
There were friends who were happy and who were sad and friends who would miss us all.
It was a wonderful night for all of us.
Next year we will all see each other again. That is the best part.
This picture shows us all after receiving our Certificates.
