The Boston Tea Party took place DECEMBER 16, 1773, just three years after the Boston Massacre, where the British fired into a crowd, killing five. The British passed unbearable taxes: 1764 Sugar Act -taxing sugar, coffee, wine; 1765 Stamp Act -taxing newspapers, contracts, letters, playing cards and all printed materials; 1767 Townshend Acts -taxing glass, p […]

The political turmoil in Australian politics outlined in this earlier post has come to a head this morning.
The incumbent Labor Government has been trying to ram through its ETS legislation, artfully called the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme. (CPRS) This legislation passed easily through the House of Representatives where the Government has the numbers. It has been held up in the Senate where they do not have control, and was voted down when it was originally introduced.
Over the last few weeks both major Parties have been working to introduce a huge series of amendments in an effort to finally get it passed. The Government wanted the Bill passed this week, in order mainly for the Prime Minister Kevin Rudd to take it to Copenhagen, almost as a fait accompli.
Debate in the Senate has been fierce, and both parties looked set to agree. There has been turmoil in the Conservative side of politics with feelings running high over whether the Bill should pass.
To that end , that Conservative side of politics, the Liberal Party of Australia (the same as the U.S. Republican Party) has now changed its leadership for a new leader who has vowed to not allow this Bill passage. There is talk that this might actually destroy the Party, but feeling in Australia is now running at fever pitch. Climategate has broken and Australia is finally getting the debate that has been missing for so long as the Labor Government (same as for the U.S. Democratic Party) sought to ram through this huge new tax.
Now, this morning, with a new Leader in place, the first step he has taken is to call for the Senate to immediately stop debating passage of the Bill, and for the Bill to be deferred for at least two months, until after Copenhagen.
The secret ballot in the Party room voted 54 to 29 to defer the Legislation in the Senate, and one report signals this as the death of this version of an Australian Emissions Trading Scheme.
This intention will gain traction in the Senate, and now, no vote on passage of the Legislation will take place this week.
This will be a direct slap in the face for the Prime Minister as he desperately wanted to take this legislation to Copenhagen so he could strut on the World stage.
We live in the hope that this iniquitous new huge tax on everyday people will finally fail.

“The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County” was his first popular story, written while in San Francisco. He then sailed to the Holy Land and wrote Innocents Abroad. In Innocents Abroad, 1869, Mark Twain wrote: “We dismounted on those shores which the feet of the Saviour had made holy ground…One of the most astonishing…observations is the exceedingly small portion of the earth from which sprang the new flourishing plant of Christianity.”
Mark Twain continued: “The longest journey our Saviour ever performed was from here to Jerusalem – about…one hundred and twenty miles….He spent His life, preaching His Gospel, and performing His miracles, within a compass no larger than an ordinary county of the United States.” Mark Twain wrote: “In the starlight, Galilee has no boundaries but the broad compass of the heavens, and is a theatre meet for great events; meet for the birth of a religion able to save the world.”

“Thank you so much for the opportunity to support your tireless efforts and outstanding work. The Patriot Post is a refreshing departure from the mainstream media’s constant attempt to brainwash me into believing their thinly veiled attempt to socialize the country.
Now that our suspicions have been confirmed by the recently published East Anglia CRU emails, it’s time to seriously think about how science might reorient itself away from a philosophy of sacrifice, privation, and doom toward ideas which might actually be useful. The scientific community could find the return to valid, optimistic and unbiased research as refreshing as it is liberating.
So many issues deserve the positive attention of science that it has truly been sad to see such a large proportion of the world’s intelligence focused on strategies designed to not only restrict human progress, but to reverse it.
Fear is not the source of achievement. It is disabling to achievement. Fear has driven climate science and closed the metaphoric door to the future. Instead of thinking about what can be done, climate science thinks about what can’t be done. Instead of exploring what is possible, climate science has defined what is impossible. In short, climate science has become the last venue within which capitalism, the free market, optimism, and progress are implicitly derogated. Climate science is not science. Climate science is politics. It is a political agenda of opinion and it has been heavily manipulated for the sake of controlling its message; a message camouflaged in “green.” The medium is the message, remember?
Who isn’t in favor of “green?” Green is healthy. Green is as emotionally appealing as it is philosophically irresistible. “Green” is the vanguard of a blatant propaganda campaign. The idea of “green” is brilliantly Orwellian, promising life while leading to stagnation and death.
Now that some enterprising and possibly conscience-stricken soul has served up the emails and other data of the Climate Research Unit (CRU) of the University of East Anglia, revealing the deliberate efforts to hide the corrupted research that justifies the “global warming” fraud, all the various journalists and alleged climate scientists who have been a party to it are trying desperately to cover up or minimize the scandal.
Others like the U.S. “Climate Czar” Carol Browner have announced their faith in the disputed data, but Browner, who served as EPA Director in the Clinton administration has never shown any interest in honest science and is not likely to have left a paper trail in her present position. No word yet from Obama’s loony “Science Czar”, John Holdren.
The truth is, those closely allied with the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) have been suppressing the real science, substituting their own corrupted data, and trying to avoid the process of “peer review” by which other scientists, the real ones, can test the data for accuracy and validity.
Thousands of real scientists have signed petitions over the years demanding that global warming claims be submitted to rigorous examination.
The Heartland Institute, a non-profit, free market think tank, spent—-for them-—an enormous amount of money to put on international conferences that brought together top scientists who demonstrated how utterly false the IPCC, CRU and other data was, but the mainstream media simply mocked their effort. And (Australian Prime Minister) Kevin Rudd’s plan to cut greenhouse gases would account for 50 per cent of the increase, according to a secret report with the State Government.
In alarming news for struggling families, the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal is recommending the hefty rise in power bills from next July… IPART is disputing Canberra’s forecast that an Emissions Trading Scheme will only add 7 per cent to electricity prices in 2011/12, rising to 12 per cent the following year. IPART expects the impact of the CPRS will be closer to 30 per cent by mid-2013.
Remember that this is just a downpayment on the true cost of this mad tax. You won’t just pay higher power prices. You will also pay more for everything that needed electricity, too – processed foods, clothes, cars, steel, concrete, train rides… You’ll need to pay more for the people who will lose their jobs because of this tax. You’ll pay more for the uneconomic “green” power we’ll be forced to use instead of cheap coal-fired power. You’ll pay for the gassy companies demanding compensation for going broke. You’ll pay for the billions Kevin Rudd is spending overseas to bribe pooer countries to cut gases, too.
You’ll pay. I suspect you’ll one day make Labor pay, too. And make the Liberals (Conservatives) pay who said this great green tax on everything was a good idea – because they did not dare say no.

The brouhaha over the recent epiphany regarding junk science and climate change duplicity is a big deal.
Science is “supposed” to be all about facts, evidence and proof. The scientific method that kids are taught at an early age is explained as “A method of discovering knowledge about the natural world based in making falsifiable predictions (hypotheses), testing them empirically, and developing peer-reviewed theories that best explain the known data.” It is not “supposed” to be a sporting event of “us” versus “them” or team competition.
Reportedly, computer hackers obtained some 160 megabytes of emails from the Climate Research Unit a University in England. The e-mails were exchanges between researchers and policy advocates who shared a similar gospel according to them. Shockingly, authorities were discussing the “destruction and hiding of data that did not support global-warming claims.” Hello???
Protestations to the contrary notwithstanding, exchanges about “the trick of adding in the real temps to each series…to hid the decline (in temperature),” is egregious. Professor Phil Jones, head of the Climate Research Unit and professor Michael E. Mann at Penn State are now tap dancing. Read the rest of this entry »
PERHAPS AN ALTERNATE TITLE MIGHT READ – COPENHAGEN – DON’T FORGET TO BRING YOUR MONEY.
In seven days from now, this United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) will get under way in Copenhagen. We are told that this is the most important meeting in recent history, and is needed to address the Climate Disaster. (Their words, shown at this link)
I have posted earlier posts on this Conference, where I mention that there is now every chance that it may not produce any binding and definitive result. In those posts I mentioned that it has little to do with the environment in fact, and is really just about the money. In fact, the environment may actually have been shuffled back into third place, as now politics has joined the money at the top of the list of things discussed at Copenhagen. (There’s nothing surprising about that either.)
The main focus that those in positions of power will be trying to get across is the cutback in emissions of Carbon Dioxide (CO2), and you will hear a plethora of (mis)information regarding this. This is an intentional thing, because the real intent of the meeting is to shore up the immense amounts of money that the UN will be seeking from the member Countries. There are 192 of these member Countries, and the UN has divided those Countries into two groups, and added a further third group, culled from one of those other two.
The Countries are divided into Developed Countries and Developing Countries. In the first bloc are 40 Countries listed as already developed, leaving the other 152 Countries in that other list. Now, from that list of 40 Countries in that first list, 23 Countries have been placed onto a third list. Now I’m not making this up, but the UN has stated that those 23 Countries must pay ALL the costs for those other Countries so that they can move towards a ‘carbon free’ future.
That’s ALL the costs.
At the same time, those 23 Countries are then required to introduce measures in their own Countries to cut back their own emissions, move to renewable power, impose a charge in the form of an Emissions tax trading scheme, as well as finding the technology for reducing emissions and then giving these technologies to those remaining 152 Countries.
So, when it comes to the question of that funding, you don’t need a crystal ball to deduce how the vote on that question will go.
Stevie Wonder has to be one of the towering talents of modern music. Blind from birth, he took up the piano when he was 7 and mastered it before he was 9, also teaching himself to play the harmonica, drums and Bass. He was discovered singing on a street corner at the age of 11 and signed to Motown Records, who he is still with to this day. His first Number One hit was in 1963 when he was 13. He worked in those teen years as a songwriter for Motown, as well as recording his own songs. From the time of that first hit and up until 1985 he released 35 singles, and only 5 of them failed to get into the Top Ten, and 10 of those were Number One Hits. In that same period, he released 5 albums every one of them going into the Top Five, three of them reaching Number One in the Album Charts.
Good day, imperialist dogs. My name is Brigadier General Ahmad Mighani of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards and I am here to deliver a message of doom to the West. Our exalted President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad would have brought this message himself, but since today is his weekly back waxing, that duty falls to me. Between you and me, the president is a very hairy man – his nickname is Chewbacca, but I digress. For far too long, the peaceful Islamic Republic of Iran has been subjugated to scorn, ridicule, and threats from the United States and its allies. The Zionists, specifically, have threatened our peaceful nuclear program and they have forced us to prepare for their rumored attack:
Iran’s armed forces launched large-scale air defense war games on Sunday to show off the country’s deterrence capabilities in the face of pressure from the West over its nuclear program. The display of military muscle comes at a time of rising tension between Iran and six major powers, which fear Tehran’s nuclear program is aimed at producing nuclear weapons. Tehran denies this is the program’s purpose.
Of course we deny that this is the program’s purpose! Our nuclear program is a peaceful one, and is designed for peaceful purposes. We are currently working on a number of initiatives that will make Iran, and by extension the world, a much safer place. For example, Tehran has seen an increase in automobile accidents of late. Most of these accidents are of the auto versus camel variety, and occur during the evening hours. Utilizing the pinnacle of 1972 technology, our scientists are crafting enriched uranium into “camel bumpers.” (Iran patented the term “camel bumper” and owns all of its subsidiary rights.) These bumpers are harnessed to the camel, and due to the radioactivity, glow bright enough to be seen from Mars. Problem solved. Read the rest of this entry »
If a scandal isn’t reported by the media, does that mean it never happened?
For the millions of Americans who don’t watch Fox News or listen to talk radio, the answer is a resounding yes.
Last Friday, November 20, evidence came to light that “appears to show a conspiracy to falsify data and suppress academic debate in order to exaggerate the possible threat of man-made global warming.” Translation: The global warming movement rests almost entirely on the IPCC’s claim to represent the “consensus” of climate science. That entire movement now stands discredited.
In the face of this absolutely shameful and possibly criminal revelation of chicanery, deceit and manipulation of data, the mainstream media has stuck to their decades long policy of ignoring any evidence or opinion that challenges their firm belief that the world is undergoing a climate crisis. A crisis that can only be rectified if all global citizens drastically change their behaviour.
Despite these revelations, the AP’s science writer continued reporting on the worsening climate non-crisis, “Since the 1997 international accord to fight global warming, climate change has worsened and accelerated — beyond some of the grimmest of warnings made back then.” Scary stuff, if it were true. As a result of the growing ClimateGate scandal, Penn State University is investigating Michael Mann, its high-profile professor on the sending and receiving end of controversial e-mail messages recently obtained from a British Climate Research Unit.
Mann, as one of the originators of the infamous Hockey Stick graph, is the climatologist at the very heart of the global warming myth.
As the creator of “Mike’s Nature trick,” a particularly damning phrase used in one of the e-mail messages in question, Mann is also a key figure in ClimateGate.
Given his importance to the climate movement and all those involved including Nobel Laureate Al Gore, President Obama, and Congressional Democrats desperately trying to enact cap and trade legislation, it will be very interesting to see how this press release from Penn State gets reported in the coming days (h/t Anthony Watts via Marc Morano):
Professor Michael Mann is a highly regarded member of the Penn State faculty conducting research on climate change. Professor Mann’s research papers have been published in well respected peer-reviewed scientific journals. In November 2005, Representative Sherwood Boehlert (R-NY) requested that the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) convene a panel of independent experts to investigate Professor Mann’s seminal 1999 reconstruction of the global surface temperature over the past 1,000 years. The resulting 2006 report of the NAS panel (http://www.nap.edu/catalog.php?record_id=11676) concluded that Mann’s results were sound and has been subsequently supported by an array of evidence that includes additional large-scale surface temperature reconstructions. Senator Penny Wong. Australian Minister for Climate Change and Water.
Frank J. Tipler, professor of mathematical physics at Tulane University, on the true significance of Climategate:
The now non-secret data prove what many of us had only strongly suspected — that most of the evidence of global warming was simply made up. That is, not only are the global warming computer models unreliable, the experimental data upon which these models are built are also unreliable. As Lord Monckton has emphasized here at Pajamas Media, this deliberate destruction of data and the making up of data out of whole cloth is the real crime — the real story of Climategate.
So quick that I missed it. But the (Australian) ABC’s 7.30 Report did ask Climate Change Minister Penny Wong one question about Climategate, and – just for the record – here is her complete non-answer: Read the rest of this entry »
Scientists involved in the growing ClimateGate scandal were cited in an October climate change report prepared for the White House and Congress.
Titled “Our Changing Planet,” the 172-page document was created by The U.S. Global Change Research Program along with the Subcommittee on Global Change Research, and was submitted as a supplement to President Obama’s fiscal 2010 budget.
As such, its contents not only impact future and current legislation involving global warming, but also how tax dollars are spent to research and address it.
The report began with an introduction by White House science czar John Holdren, a man directly involved in ClimateGate (h/t Right Pundits via NB reader George):
Members of Congress:
We herewith transmit a copy of Our Changing Planet: The U.S. Climate Change Science Program for Fiscal Year 2010. The report describes the activities and plans of the U.S. Global Change Research Program (USGCRP) established under the Global Change Research Act of 1990. The USGCRP coordinates and integrates scientific research on climate and global change supported by 13 participating departments and agencies of the U.S. government. With the AP busy fact-checking Sarah Palin’s book and much of the rest of the media busy trying to trip her up at her book signings, a huge story
seems to have passed them by: ClimateGate.
FSM readers are likely aware of the fact that last week, someone hacked into the e-mail system of the University of East Anglia in the UK and exposed a series of e-mails that certainly seem like a conspiracy by some of the world’s top global warming alarmists to manipulate temperature data to reflect their hypotheses.
However, as Noel Shepard at Newsbusters pointed out earlier this week that several days after the scandalous news broke, neither ABC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, nor NBC had bothered to cover a huge story that is becoming bigger by the moment. He also notes that NPR seemed to be a part of the blackout. Here are some of the stories they did deem important within those few days:
* ABC’s “World News with Charles Gibson” Friday did a very lengthy piece about Oprah Winfrey ending her syndicated daytime talk show
* ABC’s “World News with Charles Gibson” Monday did a lengthy piece on new revelations involving the marital affair of Sen. John Ensign (R-Nev.)
* CBS “Evening News” Saturday reported a ten-year-old pianist playing at Carnegie Hall
* CBS “Evening News” Sunday did lengthy pieces on the website FreeCreditReport.com not being free and the movie “New Moon”
* CBS “Evening News” Monday did lengthy pieces about defective drywall and a man who makes money wearing t-shirts
* NBC “Nightly News” Friday reported on Switzerland’s supercollider being turned back on
* NBC “Nightly News” Saturday did a somewhat lengthy report on food carts
* NBC “Nightly News” Sunday reported the release of British singer Susan Boyle’s CD, and then followed it up with another report Monday on her promoting it.
More “big news” as of this writing was about the couple who managed to crash the White House state dinner on Tuesday night, as well as the annual Black Friday shopping crush.
On Monday, Fox had done four reports alone and Rush Limbaugh was also all over the story throughout the beginning of the week. Fox also had actor and “climate change” believer Ed Begley, Jr. on with Stuart Varney to discuss the issue, and all Begley could do was shout over the host with various talking points.
So where’s the “mainstream media”? Fact-checking Sarah Palin and getting ready to breathlessly cover Obama’s upcoming trip to Copenhagen to discuss…global warming.
Aren’t they at all curious about the e-mails? We’re told that they, as professional journalists, are more qualified to cover the hard news stories than those cheeky bloggers. And yet – and yet – who is falling down on the job?
If the MSM is wondering why ratings and circulation continue to tank, they have only to look their own ideology in the mirror.
On Saturday, (11-21-09) the Senate voted 60-to-39, along party lines, to press towards passage of a massive health care bill, by blocking a Republican filibuster. Senators ignored the fact that the bill received a failing grade from health care experts like the Dean of Harvard Medical School, since it will raise taxes, deficits, and medical costs, while reducing lifesaving medical innovations.
Afterward, however, the bill drew criticism even from moderate Democrats who usually support the Obama administration, which backs the bill. Veteran Washington Post editorialist David Broder called the bill a “budget buster in the making,” saying it will violate President Obama’s “pledge that health insurance reform will not add to our federal budget deficit over the next decade.” He pleaded with the Obama administration and Congress not to “pass along unfunded programs to our children and grandchildren.”
In the Examiner, a Democrat who backed Obama in 2008 criticized the administration for backing a health care bill that violates Obama’s campaign promises by raising taxes on the middle class, citing the bill’s many tax increases, such as its tax on uninsured people and taxes on cosmetic surgery and other medical procedures.
Earlier, Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen (D) criticized ObamaCare for driving up state spending and budget deficits, calling it “the mother of all unfunded mandates.”
Washington Post columnist Robert Samuelson today called ObamaCare a generational rip-off. Earlier, he noted that the health care bill is “hypocritical” and “dishonest” and aggravates the worst features of the “status quo.”
In the Senate, all Democrats voted for the bill. But many received payoffs for doing so. And there really are no “moderate” Democrats left in the Senate: most of its so-called “moderate” Democrats are not moderate or conservative on anything except on a handful of social issues needed to survive in a “red state,” like gun control. —-Read the rest of this entry »
These are dramatic times in Australia, mainly in the political arena, but the genesis of those political dramas lies with the Climate Change Debate, and the Government’s wish to pass Emissions Trading Legislation, oddly labeled as the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme. (CPRS) The Government’s wish was to have this passed before the Copenhagen Conference, even though if passed it will not come into effect until mid 2011. It now looks likely to fail for a second time in being passed by the Senate. The political fallout has achieved one thing, that being that it is now causing widespread debate in the wider community. The fallout from Climategate has only added to the debate, and now, at last, we are getting the debate we should have had all along. The revelations adding to Climategate are coming thick and fast now, as other areas are now being caught up in the widening net, and it looks like the UN may just have a pretty grubby hand in all this, as this post from Andrew points out.
Green journalists may ignore them, but scientists cannot. In fact, even the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change itself is threatened by the Climategate emails.
Professor Mike Hulme is of the University of East Anglia from which the emails were leaked, and is named by ScienceWatch as “the 10th most cited author in the world in the field of climate change, between 1999 and 2009”. The leaked emails of IPCC authors show an organisation corrupted by a clique of warmist evangelists, and even Hume now says the IPCC may have run its course:
(The UN’s Copenhagen summit) is about raw politics, not about the politics of science… It is possible that climate science has become too partisan, too centralized. The tribalism that some of the leaked emails display is something more usually associated with social organization within primitive cultures; it is not attractive when we find it at work inside science.
During World War I, Britain was ineffective manufacturing explosives, until a breakthrough in synthesizing acetone was made by Jewish chemist Dr. Chaim Weizmann, who was born NOVEMBER 27, 1874. In gratitude, Britain issued the Balfour Declaration, establishing a Jewish homeland. President Woodrow Wilson wrote to Rabbi Stephen Wise, 1918: “I think all Americans will be deeply moved by the report that…the Weizmann commission has been able to lay the foundation of the Hebrew University at Jerusalem.” President Harry S Truman wrote to Dr. Weizmann, November 29, 1948: “I remember well our conversations about the Negeb…I agree fully with your estimate of the importance of the area to Israel, and I deplore any attempt to take it away from Israel. I had thought that my position would have been clear to all the world, particularly in the light of the specific wording of the Democratic Party platform.” Truman continued: “I have interpreted my re-election as a mandate…to carry out…the plank on Israel…In closing, I want to tell you how happy and impressed I have been at the remarkable progress made by the new State of Israel.” Dr. Weizmann wrote: “I think that the God of Israel is with us.”
