The past few nights, we have been having some fun with #hashtags on Twitter, and we thought we would bring the fun to our readers of the Freedom Medium.

We aren’t claiming credit for this being one of our own original works, but we wanted to pass it along to our readers as a method of supporting the arts.

We are doing this article in an open-thread style, leave a comment on which Obama movie is your favorite, or tell us about one of your favorites.

Obama: Saluting For The Cameras

Presidents engage in all kinds of ceremonial events. Every Thanksgiving, they “pardon” a turkey so it doesn’t end up on the White House menu. They make sure they are photographed with the winning teams of various sporting series. Every Easter they can be found at the White House Egg Roll accompanied, I have always suspected, by a Secret Service agent in a large bunny costume.

The other evening, shortly after midnight, President Obama made sure to be photographed standing in line with military personnel and some civilians in attendance as the dead, including three drug enforcement agents, from Afghanistan were returned home at Dover Air Force base. Our military casualties are received in a solemn ceremony few except those in attendance ever witness.

Presidents have never participated in this ceremony. The caskets are a too vivid reminder that part of their job is to send troops in harm’s way. President Bush preferred to meet with the families of fallen heroes.

When 241 U.S. military were murdered by a suicide bomber in Beirut on October 23, 1983, President Ronald Reagan attended a ceremony at Camp Lejeune to speak of his grief and anger. Three months after the bombing, he pulled out U.S. troops.

Professor Tim Flannery  is a Professor at Australia’s Macquarie University, noted Evironmentalist, chairman of the Copenhagen Climate Council, former Australian Of The Year of 2007, and author of The Weather Makers.

To be honest, I thought – and said – Christopher Monckton was exaggerating a bit in claiming the the United Nation’s Copenhagen meeting on global warming would negotiate the creation of a new world government:

At Copenhagen, this December, weeks away, a treaty will be signed…I read that treaty. And what it says is this, that a world government is going to be created. The word “government” actually appears as the first of three purposes of the new entity. The second purpose is the transfer of wealth from the countries of the West to third world countries, in satisfication of what is called, coyly, “climate debt” – because we’ve been burning CO2 and they haven’t.

But now Alarmist of the Year Tim Flannery, on yet another gassy overseas junket, (3 links there) suggests this is indeed the intention – and his most fervent hope for these talks:

(Scooter’s Report) – OK, so it’s Halloween and time for much of the populace to revel in dark and scary things, because I guess raging unemployment, failing wars, skyrocketing foreclosures, and our society’s rapid slide toward atheism and Marxism aren’t scary enough.

While I’m personally not into Halloween (I’m a Thanksgiving/Christmas person), I appreciate a good scare as much as anyone. I like some horror movies, have always been a big Stephan King fan, and have even paid money to have people scare me in haunted houses over the years. These things are “good scary.”

On the eve of what I’m sure is her favorite holiday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Thursday resurrected from the dead a foul and bloated entity that if adopted, will seize my family and control our very lives, regardless of any desire we may have to be free of it. Once alive nothing can kill it, and as sure as day leads to night this mutating leviathan will cost this country trillions of dollars it does not have, and far worse, take countless human lives while doing so.

Ghosts and zombies are one thing, this health care monster and the Godless beings that created it are something else: Bad scary.

CO2’s Political Fingerprint

Unless they had explicitly named them, the Senate’s Kerry-Boxer and the House’s Waxman-Markey global warming bills could not have been better designed to inflict more pain on the states that swung red in the last election than on those that went blue. The American Clean Energy and Security Act in the Senate and House’s Clean Energy Jobs and American Power Act both call for dramatic reductions in carbon dioxide emissions, eventually 83%. (Isn’t it curious that neither bill is titled after the impending global warming catastrophe that they are supposedly designed to avert?)

When EPA’s data for carbon dioxide emissions by state is compared with state populations and the 83% reduction called for in both bills is applied, a particularly eerie pattern emerges for those who live in the states that President Obama failed to carry last November. Namely, the pain inflicted upon them is likely to be much greater as the work that their citizens do, the things that they make (one being energy) and the circumstances of their day to day lives result in higher per capita CO2 emissions from fossil fuels for their state. Just When You Thought It Was Safe

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) unveiled an $894 billion health care takeover bill Thursday; the Congressional Budget Office puts the cost at $1.055 trillion. The bill, a combination of three separate committee bills, should be light reading for our nation’s lawmakers, though — it weighs in at a scant 1,990 pounds, er, pages.

The “reform” plan includes the dreaded “public option” that many thought might be dead and buried. The public option would create a government-run insurance plan to “compete” with private insurance. The obvious problem — at least to those who understand the free market — is that it would have several negative effects on health care and the economy. Many employers would drop their insurance coverage in favor of the small penalty paid to the federal government in exchange for putting employees on the government dole. Indeed, an estimated 120 million customers would leave private insurers. With fewer people buying private insurance, many insurance companies would increase rates, further restrict coverage, or go out of business altogether, thus creating a vicious death spiral.

Watch the video at the end of this article to see one more example of why when it comes to passing their health care reform bill, nothing is off-limits when it comes to the DNC.

Even if it means the destruction of one of our country’s greatest symbols.

Even I never thought that people of the left would stoop so low as to pervert the image of something that has stood for the greatness of this country for over 200 years.

When I think of the American flag, I think of the thousands of times I have sung the national anthem, or the times I have recited the Pledge of Allegiance, perhaps I will recall the image of the U.S. Marines raising the flag at Iwo Jima.

When the members of Obama’s Army think of the American flag, they think of an advertising gimmick.

Obama’s Army, as we call the members of Organizing For America, are an official arm of the Democratic National Committee.

We have shown in previous articles that these people are so stupid, if it was raining soup they would run outside with a fork.

We have presented numerous examples of how they attend rallies and hold meetings (as well as crashing Tea Party events) to show their support for Obamacare, yet when they are questioned about the details of the plan, you may as well have asked them to translate the Bible into Mandarin Chinese.

Rednecks

In a much publicized rant that sent chills up the legs of millions of liberals, oops, progressives, Janeane Garofalo emphatically exercised her opinion of the millions of ‘tea-party’ protestors: “This is about hating a black man in the White House. This is racism, straight up. Its is nothing but a bunch of tea-bagging rednecks.”

Anyone who has read Thomas Sowell’s Black Rednecks and White Liberals, knows that Garofalo’s statement is either demonstrably false, or just plain racist.

Sowell, a fellow at The Hoover Institution and a prolific author (who happens to be black himself) actually documents the origins and evolution of the redneck culture. He makes the excellent, and unchallenged point that the inner-city culture celebrated by many blacks today is, in fact, derived directly from the redneck culture – which had its origins in England.

People migrating to America’s south from the largely fringe areas of England, the Scottish Highlands and Ireland brought with them certain cultural values: Proneness to violence, aversion to work, neglect of education, sexual promiscuity, improvidence, drunkenness, lack of entrepreneurship, lively music and dance, style of religious oratory, touchy pride, boastful self-dramatization and vanity. These traits describe what came to be known as the redneck culture, and the people who exhibited these traits were labeled rednecks or crackers.

Are They Stupid Or Evil Or Both?

It is an ancient question about any group of people who constitute a government. Are they stupid or evil? Or both? Or just stupid and the evil flows from their stupidity?

I rather imagine the Roman senators lounging around in their bath houses and asking one another whether Quintas Fabius Maximus Eburnus is a moron or has something up the sleeve of his toga?

My thoughts on this have naturally turned to Madame Speaker, Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid, our President, and the motley group of cabinet secretaries and “czars” advising him.

I have concluded that they are, individually and collectively, the most stupid people Americans have ever elected or had appointed to public office.

I know that historians will be emailing me asking, “What about Andrew Johnson” who succeeded Lincoln following his assassination or, for that matter, Lyndon B. Johnson who became president when JFK was killed. There probably should be an amendment to the Constitution forbidding anyone named Johnson to run for high office.

This is not a new story from the Wall Street Journal, but certainly one worth noting:

“We thought cash for clunkers was the ultimate waste of taxpayer money, but as usual we were too optimistic. Thanks to the federal tax credit to buy high-mileage cars that was part of President Obama’s stimulus plan, Uncle Sam is now paying Americans to buy that great necessity of modern life, the golf cart.

The federal credit provides from $4,200 to $5,500 for the purchase of an electric vehicle, and when it is combined with similar incentive plans in many states the tax credits can pay for nearly the entire cost of a golf cart. Even in states that don’t have their own tax rebate plans, the federal credit is generous enough to pay for half or even two-thirds of the average sticker price of a cart, which is typically in the range of $8,000 to $10,000. “The purchase of some models could be absolutely free,” Roger Gaddis of Ada Electric Cars in Oklahoma said earlier this year. “Is that about the coolest thing you’ve ever heard?”

PSST. Want a surefire way to get a grant – maybe $300,000, or even more – for your university research?

Then gather around, my dear professors, and say these magic words.

Climate change.

You scoff? You say it’s too crazy to work, given that your expertise is actually in Bible studies, Aboriginal history, ceramics or sorghum?

More fool you. Just check the 1136 grants of the Australian Research Council that were approved this week by Science Minister Senator Kim Carr.

That’s $392 million Carr has splashed out in this year’s funding round for university research into everything from history and anthropology to physics and genetic engineering.

Yet with so much to choose from, an astonishing 10 per cent of that entire budget for ARC Discovery and Linkage grants went on projects submitted by academics who’d squeezed in some reference to “climate change”, no matter how preposterous.

Ten per cent!  Oh, those cunning academics. Those wind-sniffers.

‘Nobody Questions That’?

Never before has there been more evidence of outright contempt for our Constitution than under the current liberal hegemony presiding over the executive and legislative branches of our federal government.

The protagonist of this Leftist regime is, of course, Barack Hussein Obama, who promised his constituents, “This is our moment, this is our time to turn the page on the policies of the past, to offer a new direction. We are fundamentally transforming the United States of America. And generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was our time” [emphasis added].

Obama proclaimed, “Everywhere we look, there is work to be done. The state of the economy calls for action, bold and swift, and we will act — to lay a new foundation for growth.”

In his inaugural speech, Obama declared, “The question we ask today is not whether our government is too big or too small, but whether it works,” signaling his rejection of the old paradigm, which pitted the conservative position, “government is the problem,” against the liberal position, “government is the solution.”   —-

Forget Swine Flu, We Need A Vaccine For Liberalism

(Yesterday, we did an article taking liberals to task for taking credit for things that they didn’t deserve it for.
Oh brother, did we start a firestorm.
Yesterday turned out to be our second-highest traffic day ever, with a few of the liberal loonies leaving their usual idiotic comments.
They will need Obamacare after they read today’s follow-up.)

 

Seriously.

We have a vaccine for swine flu because we know the effects.

How is it that medical research can’t develop a vaccine to prevent people from developing amnesia, and for their thinking to become so twisted that they start to believe that up is down, and for some things failing to register in their minds at all?

One of our recent articles asked the question “Who is more legitimate, Fox News or the White House?

This led one reader to leave a response to the points we raised, which once again displayed all of the symptoms of this disease that we outlined above.

One of the things this person said was that the media did fact-check George Bush, but that it happened 8 years too late.

No doubt this person was dragging out the tired old argument that “George Bush got us into a war in Iraq under false pretenses,There were never any WMD’s.”

This is where the amnesia part of this tragic illness makes itself known.

This poor soul obviously can’t remember such things as:

“If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction program.”

“Iraq is a long way from [here], but what happens there matters a great deal here. For the risks that the leaders of a rogue state will use nuclear, chemical or biological weapons against us or our allies is the greatest security threat we face.”

Our respondent then went on to say:
“Fox News is the mouthpiece of the Republican Party. What they talk about is not news. If it were news, there would be measured debate, a modicum of respect….”
And a bit later threw this in:
“If we on the left had treated Bush anywhere like this, you’d be foaming at the mouth even more.”

OK, if Fox News is the mouthpiece of the Republican Party, does that make the crew at MSNBC the official spokespeople for the Democrats?

Sure, Fox News has people with opinionated shows, such as Sean Hannity, Glen Beck , etc.

And I realize that it is just another symptom of the disease this man is suffering from that leads him to believe that  commentators such as Keith Olbermann, Chris Matthews and Rachel Maddow never allow their own political ideology to influence their remarks.

“A modicum of respect….”
“If we on the left had treated Bush anywhere like this, you’d be foaming at the mouth even more.”

See, there’s that damn amnesia indicator again.

Sir, try and remember these:

Keith Olbermann calling George Bush the “worst person ever.”

Chris Matthews, following Bush’s farewell address, referred to the Bush Presidency as “the tragedy of the last eight years.”

How about a guest on Olbermann’s show, Janeane Garofalo, who told him that “Tea Parties are about racism, not politics.”

How much respect did you folks on the left show when one of you made the following comment:

“Republicans are shameless d**ks. No, that’s not fair,Republican politicians are shameless d**ks.

You took the author of that quote, Al Franken, and made him a United States Senator!

And you accuse those of us on the right of showing no respect?

Finally, this gentleman offered the following observation:

Afghanistan, Bananistan

Though it pains me deeply, I have to agree with President Obama’s reluctance to send more troops into Afghanistan.

Perhaps he is thinking about the problems the Soviet Union encountered even though they had an estimated 100,000 troops there in the 1990s? Perhaps he is wondering why the United States has been there now for eight years with not much to show for it?

I am not interested in the “politics” of the President’s decision whether to stay, to increase troop strength, to maintain the current status, or to leave. Only leaving makes any sense and I worry that Obama may want to avoid looking like a wimp by pulling out.

To those that argue that leaving will embolden the Taliban or al Qaeda, may I respectfully suggest they don’t need anything to feel that way other than their fanatical belief in Islam.

Then there is the nasty little problem called Hamid Karzai and his government of Afghanistan; the one that stuffed the ballot boxes so blatantly in a recent election even the United Nations could not ignore it. As for his government, it ends at the city line of Kabul.

Have Fox And The White House Declared A Truce?

Numerous sources are reporting a meeting occurred Wednesday between high-ranking officials at the White House and the Fox News Channel to try and reach an end to hostilities between the Administration and the nation’s leading cable news network.

With Fox’s ratings soaring as a result of the incursion, and the White House looking more and more foolish, one has to wonder what the Adminstration could have offered to make this deal possible.

Unfortunately, such details aren’t currently available besides what Mediaite reported Wednesday:

Mediaite has confirmed a meeting between Fox News and the White House took place today, and an FNC spokesperson emphasized it was private.

Details of the meeting and terms of any agreement are still emerging, but we hear the meeting was to come to a “truce” between both sides – a point first reported by FishbowlDC.

Mediaite hears the meeting was between FNC Senior Vice President Michael Clemente and White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs in Gibbs’ office at the White House. Clemente then met with the FNC D.C. bureau.

I don’t know about you, but even with the World Series going, and college and NFL football in full swing, nothing has been more fun to watch than the sparring between Obama’s henchmen and Fox the past few weeks.

Climate Chief Blasts Farts

(SR) – Leading authority on global warming, Lord Stern of Brentford, warned that unless there is a dramatic decrease in farting, the earth as we know it is doomed.

In an interview with The TImes, Lord Stern said that people will need to turn vegetarian if the world is to conquer climate change, citing the fact that emissions from cows and pigs create a significant amount of greenhouse gases.

Lord Stern, the author of the influential 2006 Stern Review on the cost of tackling global warming, said that eradicating delicious farm animals is only the first step: “We must bear down on farts,” Stern sternly warned. “For example, Rosie O’Donnell and two bean burritos could effectively melt an inch of arctic ice and kill at least one polar bear. This must stop.”

My comments: For all his sissy-boy titles, this putz is a moron. Here’s my plan: Mix a little Beano in with the cow and pig feed and kill Rosie O’Donnell. World saved.

Thank God margaritas aren’t a major contributor to climate change, let’s have some while we grill some steaks.

One Intruder Or Two?

Tim Blair laughs that an intruder managed to sneak right into the heart of power in the United Nations:

Red-faced United Nations officials on Monday admitted to a major security lapse after a UN guard helped Kentucky Fried Chicken’s “Colonel Sanders” gain access to restricted areas.

The guard escorted the white-suited intruder past security barriers, where he got a handshake from the UN General Assembly president, Dr. Ali A. Treki of Libya.

Colonel Gaddafi’s man is president of the UN General Assembly? Stop laughing, and call the police!

After introductions and the obligatory photo op, the ‘visitor’ was ushered into a conference room and asked if he might contribute at the upcoming Climate Change conference. The visitor offered to help out with the catering.

“With less than two months to go before the big Copenhagen Conference on global warming, two major nations have said ‘no thanks’ to the no-growth agenda. For that reason alone, so should we. Following a deal signed late Thursday between China and India, anything we might agree to do in Copenhagen is likely moot anyway. The two mega-nations — which together account for nearly a third of the world’s population — said they won’t go along with a new climate treaty being drafted in Copenhagen to replace the Kyoto Protocol that expires in 2012. They’re basically saying no to anything that forces them to impose mandatory limits on their output of greenhouse gas emissions. Other developing nations, including Mexico, Brazil and South Africa, will likely reject any proposals as well. The deal was already in trouble. Three weeks ago, the Group of 77 developing nations met in Thailand to discuss what they wanted to do about global warming. Their answer: nothing. William Hawkins, writing in the American Thinker, quotes a piece in China’s Science Times journal that sums up how China — and other developing nations — feel: ‘Why do the developed countries put an arguable scientific problem on the international negotiations table?’ the article’s author, Wang Jin, asks. ‘The real intention is not for the global temperature increase, but for the restriction of the economic development of the developing countries.’   —
