Sunday Music – My House And The River

Posted by TonyfromOz on 07/05/2009

Today’s music video is ‘My House And The River’ from French Orchestra leader Paul Mauriat.

Paul Mauriat is more famous for another beautiful song called ‘Love Is Blue’ which was a huge Worldwide hit for him in 1968. Mauriat had his own orchestra during the Second World War similar to a lot of the other big band era leaders from that era, and has a long history in France as well as around the World, as well as a distinguished recording career.

This song was a minor hit for him in his home Country France, around the same time as his arrangement of Andre Popp’s ‘Love Is Blue’. As with most other big band leaders, they mostly arranged songs from other composers. This song however, was his own composition. He had a style that was all his own, and easily recognisable, smooth and mellow in much the same vein as Percy Faith and Ray Conniff. He stopped performing around the turn of the century and passed away in 2006, leaving a rich legacy of easy listening music.
