I want you to watch this really scary video, and I want you to watch it very closely. It’s a promotion for NBC’s four part Documentary, that started on Sunday night. The Documentary is titled ‘Future Earth: Journey To The End Of The World.’ It tells us that the North Polar Arctic Ice Mass will be virtually completely melted and gone as early as the Summer of 2013. This effectively backs up what Al Gore has been telling us.
As you watch, the real horror sinks in, that within 4 years there will be no ice at all at the North Pole.
That message is the one that that you remember the most, and because that message is so strong, you tend to miss some of the other points.
So, that bit that you may have missed, or did not register because of the strength of the main point, is the thing I want to direct your attention to.
After reading this, go back to the video again, scroll the cursor forward to the 1 minute 40 second mark and just watch that small excerpt again.
We are told by virtually every commentator that the really high level of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) in the Atmosphere is what is causing this catastrophic global warming, and using that exact same principle, they then tell us that this is what is causing that Polar Ice mass to melt. This, as the video shows so eloquently, then allows the Sun’s light into the area where that ice once was, heating this Ocean. Then, along with that the vast Greenland Ice shelf also melts, all because the raised levels of CO2 have caused this catastrophic Global Warming, now labelled Climate Change.
Then, and here comes the crunch, that ice melt then diverts the warm Gulstream so it doesn’t flow towards Europe any more, plunging that Continent into a mini ice age.
Hang on a minute.
If all that CO2 is what is causing all these vast masses of ice to melt, wouldn’t that same high level of CO2 melt the ice now going to form in this new ice age in Europe. So what this documentary is telling us is that melting ice creates more ice.
Cool!
I’m glad they told me that.
This Winter just gone now, that Northern Polar Ice shelf extended outwards to levels not seen for many decades, so, contrary to what this video and Al Gore tell you, the ice is not only NOT shrinking, it is in fact expanding, so for it to melt within the four years they tell us, it’s going to have to get a darned side warmer than the really small amount it might have been warming, when in fact the Planet has been cooling now for nearly 10 years. The same is happening at the South Pole. That Antarctic Ice sheet, considerably larger than the Northern Polar Ice mass has been breaking off in some places, but in other areas it has also been expanding, and not just a small expansion, but huge new masses of ice extending also further than has been the case for many decades, tens of thousands of square miles of new ice in fact.
Oh by the way, look at that map of the cooling ice. Nearly all of it is sitting in the Arctic Ocean, and very little of it is on a land mass.
I want you all to remember back to your first years in high school, and to do a small experiment.
Displacement. Remember that?
Place 4 large ice cubes in a glass of water and then fill the glass almost to the rim of the top of the glass. Leave it like that till the ice melts. The glass does not overflow, ever, because the ice displaces the same volume that the water itself does. That Northern Polar Ice is floating on the Arctic Ocean, as shown in the video.
IF (IF) all that North Polar ice ever melts, then the level of the oceans will only rise a tiny amount concomisant with whatever ice is over land, and that will most definitely not amount to the 23 feet they so emotively show us with cities drowning under raised sea levels.
Incidentally, the last Ice age lasted for 100,000 years. During all that time the level of Atmospheric CO2 was 12 times higher than it is now. That ice age took 10,000 years to recede. So, the implied fact that Europe will wake up all of a sudden one morning and find themselves covered in ice is also something that just will not happen.
MSNBC, in its rush to cash in on the Worldwide hysteria that this emotive argument has become, have shot themselves in the foot big time with this one, not in one place, but all over the place.
The trouble is that people will mindlessly believe the horror part of the story, will skip over the glaring mistakes that shoot holes full of the documentary, and probably even gain some ‘cred’ for appearing to be so environmentally conscious.
Go back to the video and scroll forward to the 1 minute 40 second mark and just watch it again, very closely.
