The Waxman Markey Bill – Electrical Power Horror

I’m going to concentrate on this for the next couple of days, because this is a really important thing for the U.S. and the importance is not in what it hopes to achieve for the environment, but what the importance is to all of us in the wider community.

Representative Henry Waxman (D – California) and Representative Edward Markey (D – Massachusetts) are in the process of introducing a bill to Congress that they hope will limit the emissions of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Greenhouse gases by introducing either a Cap and Trade or a Cap and Tax plan. The main target of this Bill is those coal fired power plants that produce constant reliable electrical power for all of us, not only in our homes, but more importantly everything else, those places that require absolutely that electrical power be in place so that life as we know it can effectively function. This is Baseload Power, power that can only be supplied by coal fired plants, nuclear powered plants and Hydro Electric plants.

This may sound a little over the top, but if you have been following my posts over the last 15 months, you will see that this is not scaremongering, because what these people do not understand is the ramifications of what they are letting us in for. In their mad rush to appease the Green lobby, and garner votes that helped get them elected, they told us that they are the only ones who are willing to do something like this so that the environment can be pristine for all of us. Without even checking what those ramifications are, they are now proceeding to put in place this Bill which will have an impact that will be to the detriment of us all.

To that end, I’ll be posting articles from other sites in respect of the consequences of the passing of this bill.

As a precursor, I want to take you back to the run up to the election, during the campaign, when now President Obama made some wildly sweeping statements about what he hoped to put in place is he was elected. Without even finding out the facts, he made these statements, prefacing them with the introduction that we ‘need’ to do these things for the sake of the environment.

This following short video is one of those pre election statements. In this short clip, he says how we have to change our attitudes towards the electrical power that is now a staple of life.

He says that under his plan for a Cap and Trade System, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket. There’s no taking him out of context here, as these are his exact words.

This new Waxman Markey Bill is the first step along that path.
