The fog cleared and the drizzle ended just about an hour before we were set to arrive in Shenandoah, PA for the anti-illegal immigration, pro-America, pro-enforcement protest hosted by Voice of the People USA.
When we arrived, there were supporters already there waiting, with American flags ready to go. We pulled into the area where we would be doing our speeches, which was designated by law enforcement for security purposes. Unfortunately, the “counter protesters” holding a Spanish rally across town inside a church had previously libeled VOPUSA in the media, claiming an association with white supremacy groups (while forgetting to mention their own affiliations with brown supremacy groups). This is simply conjecture and outright lies. More on that later.
While we were setting up our equipment, which amounted to a wireless microphone, a speaker, and a borrowed generator (thank you to the loaner … you know who you are!) because the person who normally brings the podium and sound equipment refused to come because he believed it would cause political backlash for himself. So, we did the best we could with what we had.
Dan Smeriglio started off the event with the pledge of allegiance (in English) and a moment of silence for Luis Ramirez, all victims of crime in our country, and our military who are defending us. He explained how some of our regular speakers were afraid to come to Shenandoah, to which the crowd booed. He told them how the Human Relations Commission (Ann Van Dyke) thinks that everyone at our rally was wrong for coming. Dan explained how the HRC and Lou Ann Pleva (the organizers of the “counter protest – which had about 50 people) is just using the death of an illegal alien to further their own agendas. He introduced the first speaker, Ruth Miller of Illegal Protest.

Ruth talked about driving two hours to be there, her first time in Shenandoah. She admitted her own reservations about coming because of the precariousness of the tensions there. But she came anyway, and she said she doesn’t know all of the facts of the case, but neither do the brown supremacy groups. The crowd was vocal when Ruth talked about the boys having a fight, and had no intention of killing anyone. She corrected one attendee who shouted that Ramirez deserved what he got, by saying that he did not deserve to die. She went on to discuss the “wave of hate” spouted by groups like La Raza when talking about groups like VOPUSA. The real wave of hate, in Ruth’s (and many others’) opinion is in San Francisco, where illegal aliens murder Americans in cold blood. She told the audience that we are not dehumanizing immigrants; it’s in fact the illegal aliens who dehumanize themselves by coming here in the back of a truck, and allowing themselves to be turned into slave labor. She blames our government and Mexico’s government (the two most culpable progenitors of the illegal alien invasion). Ruth believes that we don’t need “comprehensive immigration reform,” we simply need our laws to be enforced.

The next speaker is the very passionate, very loud Dan Amato of Diggers Realm. Dan tells the crowd that the brown supremacy groups were not in Shenandoah for human rights, rather they came to town to serve their own agendas. He talked about the lack of action from those groups over the deaths of Jamiel Shaw, the Balogna family, and Amy Kortlang, all killed by illegal aliens. No action from the “human rights” groups, even though these people were all HUMANS. He told the group that racist groups are just plain wrong. He brought up the fact that our presidential candidates have been hispandering to La Raza, which means THE RACE, not ALL RACES, like they want us to believe. He explained that the brown supremacy groups’ intentions are to prevent anyone not of hispanic descent from getting any support, to place people in power who will further the goal of implementing their racist goals. He told the crowd that the Catholic church supports illegal immigration; although they are mostly Catholic, some supporters could be heard saying “that’s right.” Dan Amato reminded us that we are RIGHT on this issue. He ended by saying no amnesties, no sanctuary cities, and no to the injustice Americans are forced to accept.

My sweetheart husband, Ed Medashefski, was ready to talk to the crowd who loves his wife so much. He started talking about where the jobs are, and getting the crowd to talk back to him. He thanked the Shenandoah police and the state police. He discussed the basics of the 287(g) program, enacted in 1996, that allows local and state law enforcement officers to act as ICE officers. The program allows them to determine if someone is here illegally and initiate deportation procedures. He told them some elected officials were invited, but failed to show up at the rally. He told them how a citizen action group and a crime watch are important to keeping their community safe. The crowd was talking to him, and he told them that the two illegal aliens who shot Derek Kichline in Hazleton never even went to trial. Ed encouraged the crowd to stand together when things get tough.

Dan Smeriglio was ready for his speech. He addressed the veterans in the crowd, giving them kudos and thanking them, promising to honor and cherish them. He told the crowd that some of our regular speakers were afraid to come to Shenandoah, which seemed to annoy the crowd. He told us that he was told by individuals running for office to not wear their pin or bring their signs to the rally because f the ‘risk of something bad happening” and “hampering an image.” (You can make your own conjecture as to who this candidate might be .. think more regional than local or federal.) Dan said he respects the right of those who disagree with us being there. He told the crowd he loved them all because they overcame the fear and came anyway. He thanked the law enforcement for keeping us safe every day. He reminded us that the elected officials are our employees, and we are the employers. He told the crowd that we will be there when the Shenandoah city council discusses the IIRA ordinance that was recently put on the table. He lauded them for all for putting their fear aside and attending the rally. Dan gets everyone riled about preventing amnesty – we will not let the issue fade. He tells the crowd he is finishing up so we don’t get rained on, and that I (Wendi) would be speaking next. The crowd cheered, but some boos could be heard – it turns out Crystal Dillman and four of her friends had come into the crowd holding a Mexican flag. Dan started to talk about his experience with 9/11, but the audience was starting to swarm around Dillman. He attempted to keep the attention on himself to maintain our peacefulness, asking everyone to ignore the traitors because they were only putting on a show for the media. The audience did not resort to violence, and started to bring their attention back to the speakers. He said the biased media can go to hell.
Speech by Dan Smeriglio – Part 2 of 2
Dan announced “yours truly.” LOL I Got them to get a little vocal, because it’s fun! I thanked them for having us come into their town, and let them know we want to help get the town set up with a crime watch and their own political action group. I went to describe how successful CAP (Criminal Alien Program) has been in Irving, TX. I told reminded the wonderful crowd about what happened with the McCain/Kennedy Amnesty bill last summer, how we shut down the Capitol switchboard and defeated amnesty. I told them all how their mayor, Thomas J. O’Neill, told the Morning Call that the town deserved the negative national spotlight, and continued that the mayor refuses to deal with the illegal immigration problem and betrayed them when they needed him the most. I was describing how VOPUSA is just regular citizens like them, and a woman from the crowd shouted to me to run for mayor. I told them I don’t live there, and asked if I should move in. The crowd cheered. I further stated that he does not deserve the honor of being the leader of their town. They started chanting “Where’s our mayor?” So I told them – he was at the “unity rally” across town. I encouraged them to get involved in politics, even if just voting out those who won’t do what the people want them to do. At this point, Dillman and her friends were leaving the area, and the crowd was cheering about that. I looked to see her leaving, and she had her middle finger raised back at the crowd from the parking area. See? If you ignore them, they will go away!
Speech by Wendi Medashefski of Voice of the People USA and PA Pundits
My husband grabbed the mic one more time, telling the crowd to get involved, go to the council meetings. They spontaneously started singing “God Bless America” and then chanted “USA! USA! USA!” Dan Smeriglio thanked the awesome crowd, and said goodnight.
